Man accused of threat to kill ICE officer at Delaney Hall

..... A man from Brooklyn had been accused of threatening to kill a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office and his family while outside of Delaney Hall in Newark last week , said U.S. Attorney Robert Frazer.

Nicholas Matthew Scelfo, 27, was arrested and appeared before a federal judge in a Newark courtroom on Monday, June 1. [2026] He was released on 4100,000 bond and has been prohibited from returning to Delaney Hall, officials said.
..... "As alleged, the defendant threatened a federal law enforcement officer and members of that officer's family with violence and death," Farzer said in a release. "Threats against federal offices and their families are serious crimes and will not be tolerated."
..... The U.S. attorney release said the incident happened on or about May 27 [2026]
outside Delaney Hall. According to a video posted on social media, Frazer said, Scelfo yelled at an officer: "I'll kill your whole[expletive] family! Your whole [expletive] family is dead! Your children, your wife, all dead! I have your face, [expletive]! You're dead! Dead!"
..... He as been charged with influencing impeding and retaliating against a federal officer by threat. He faces up to 10 years in prison and a maximum 4250,000 fine on the threat charge.

"Federal law enforcement officers face danger with great courage, and they should be able to do their jobs without being threatened and fearing for their families; lives," acting Attorney Gen real Todd Blanche said in the release. "We take such threats very seriously and will prosecute those who make them to the fullest extent of the law."
